UNS S32760|1.4501|Super Duplex Seamless Tube

UNS S32760 Super Duplex Seamless Tube (widely known as Zeron 100) is a high-alloy super duplex stainless steel featuring a balanced austenitic-ferritic microstructure enriched with chromium, molybdenum, tungsten, and nitrogen. This advanced metallurgical formulation delivers an exceptionally high Pitting Resistance Equivalent Number (PREN > 42), providing extraordinary resistance to chloride pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking (SCC).

Manufactured in strict compliance with ASTM A789, these seamless tubes offer mechanical strength roughly double that of conventional austenitic stainless steels, ensuring superior structural integrity and reliable high-pressure performance under demanding operating conditions.

Widely deployed in offshore oil and gas platforms, marine engineering, seawater desalination plants, chemical processing, and subsea pipeline systems, UNS S32760 is the premier tubing solution for handling highly aggressive, chloride-rich media and severe industrial environments.

What Is a Seamless Super Duplex Steel S32760 Tube?

Seamless Super Duplex Steel S32760 Tube — commonly known by the trade name Zeron 100 — is a 25% chromium super duplex (ferritic/austenitic) stainless steel tube produced to ASTM A789 from a solid billet with no weld seam.

Beyond its 25Cr-7Ni-3.5Mo-N base, S32760 adds tungsten (0.50–1.00%) and copper (0.50–1.00%). The tungsten raises the pitting resistance — a PREN of about 40 or higher including W (Cr + 3.3×(Mo + ½W) + 16×N, calculated from the heat analysis) — while copper improves resistance in seawater and sulfuric environments. The result is a super duplex grade proven in offshore, desalination and scrubber service, with 550 MPa minimum yield strength.

Key Features and Advantages

Seamless UNS S32760 tube combines the corrosion performance of nickel alloys with the strength and economy of a duplex structure, which is why it is specified for the most aggressive chloride service:

PREN Including Tungsten: W is counted in the pitting index (Cr + 3.3(Mo + ½W) + 16N), typically about 40 or higher for this chemistry, giving excellent pitting and crevice performance in seawater.

Copper-Enhanced Corrosion Resistance: the 0.50–1.00% Cu addition improves behavior in seawater and reducing acids such as sulfuric acid.

Roughly Double the Yield Strength of 316L: 550 MPa minimum yield allows lighter, higher-pressure designs.

Chloride SCC Resistance: duplex structure outperforms austenitic grades in hot chloride environments.

Erosion-Corrosion Capability: well proven for sandy seawater and high-velocity brine service.

Chemical Composition

The 25Cr-7Ni-3.5Mo-W-Cu-N chemistry is what gives UNS S32760 tube its super-duplex performance level.

Length Tolerance

  • For tube ordered to a specific cut length: +3 mm / −0 mm (OD 38.1 mm and under) or +5 mm / −0 mm (over 38.1 mm), for cut lengths up to 7.3 m (24 ft).
  • For lengths over 7.3 m, the over-tolerance increases by 3 mm for each 10 ft (3 m) or fraction thereof over 24 ft, or 13 mm (1/2 in.), whichever is less.
  • Tube is normally supplied in mill lengths or specific cut lengths as agreed in the order.
