1.4410丨2507丨UNS S32750 Super Duplex Seamless Pipe丨ASTM A790 Overview

UNS S32750 seamless pipe is a super duplex stainless steel product commonly called 2507. It combines strength and resistance to chloride-related corrosion for selected seawater, offshore and process piping applications. Wenzhou Xinzhe Tech Co., Ltd. is a China-based stockist and supplier; the producing mill and inspection documents are confirmed for each order.

Grade correspondence does not make ASTM, ASME, EN, JIS and GB delivery requirements interchangeable. Confirm chemistry, heat treatment, mechanical properties, dimensions, testing and certification against the purchase specification. See the grade designation index.

Chemical Composition

The following limits refer to UNS S32750 in ASTM A790/A790M-24, Table 2. Values are mass percentages; actual heat analysis is reported on the inspection certificate.

PREN requirement: Table 2, footnote D requires %Cr + 3.3 × %Mo + 16 × %N ≥ 41 for S32750 in this edition. Calculate it from actual heat analysis. PREN is a composition-based comparison and does not establish suitability for every corrosive environment. Use the PREN calculator with the appropriate formula.

Mechanical Requirements

Reference: ASTM A790/A790M-24, Table 3. These are specification limits, not typical measured results or allowable design stresses.

Hardness test method per specification.

The imperial and SI systems must be used independently as required by the ordered specification. Confirm applicable specimen and testing provisions; verify the supplied results against the inspection certificate.

Dimensions, Tolerances and Delivery Condition

State whether dimensions are NPS × schedule or actual OD × wall. Confirm OD, wall, ovality, straightness and length tolerances under the ordered ASTM A790/A790M edition and its applicable ASTM A999/A999M requirements. Tighter tolerances must be agreed before production.

Seamless pipe has no longitudinal weld seam; it still has manufacturing tolerances. Hot- or cold-finishing, final heat treatment, surface finish and end preparation must match the purchase specification. Do not treat solution-annealing temperature as a continuous service-temperature rating.

Read the ASTM A790 pipe guide and ASTM A999 general requirements guide for ordering context.

Inspection, Certificates and Traceability

ItemWhat to specify or confirm
Standard inspectionApplicable chemistry, tensile, hardness and other product-standard tests, with lot and sampling provisions.
Pipe integrity testASTM A790/A790M-24 §14.1 requires each pipe to undergo a hydrostatic or nondestructive electric test. Specify the required route in the order; otherwise the standard permits manufacturer selection.
Project additional testsState any PMI, corrosion, ferrite, impact or other additional requirements, including method, sampling, test conditions and acceptance criteria. Feasibility and cost require confirmation.
Inspection certificateSpecify the EN 10204 certificate type, ordered standard and edition, and required reported results.
Traceability and witness inspectionConfirm producing mill, heat-number identification, marking, document traceability and any third-party witness or hold points before order placement.

Request a sample document for review during quotation. Certificate scope and additional tests are confirmed in the written offer; no test or approval should be assumed from the grade name alone.

Applications and Service Limits

Typical Applications

Typical application areas include selected seawater and desalination systems, offshore process piping and chemical handling. Material selection depends on temperature, chloride level, pH, pressure, stress, fabrication condition and the design code.

Sour Service

Do not assume NACE MR0175/ISO 15156 compliance solely from “S32750”. Assess the applicable edition and part, material condition and actual H₂S-containing environment. A corrosion test alone does not establish full compliance. See ISO 15156 selection principles and the duplex cracking and sour-service guide.

Temperature

Prolonged exposure above approximately 250°C requires metallurgical and design-code review; the permissible service temperature is application-specific. See the cited producer datasheet for the basis of this guidance.

2507 vs. Duplex 2205 and 316L

S32750 generally offers higher chloride-pitting resistance than 2205 and higher strength than 316L. This does not make it a universal substitute: compare actual service conditions, fabrication requirements and the specified acceptance criteria. Read the duplex vs. super duplex comparison and pipe mechanical requirements guide.

Common Purchasing Questions

Is every listed size available from stock?

No. The published OD and wall ranges are enquiry ranges. Availability, feasible combinations and delivery time must be confirmed for each size and quantity.

Is PREN ≥ 41 optional?

For S32750 under ASTM A790/A790M-24, Table 2 footnote D includes this requirement. Confirm the ordered edition and verify the value from heat analysis; additional project criteria must also be stated.

Can ASTM A790 pipe be ordered as ASTM A789 tubing?

These are separate product specifications. For a tubing requirement, specify ASTM A789 and confirm the product form, dimensions, testing and certification. See the ASTM A789 tubing guide.

What information is needed for a quote?
